As a student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, specifically Saulo Ribeiro jiu jitsu, I study at Toronto BJJ under Black Belt - Professor Jorge Britto.
I have been learning jiu jitsu since June 2007 and am currently a Green Belt (White Belt with 4 stripes)
I was needing a new challenge and was really keen on learning more about ground fighting after getting hooked on MMA through the UFC
So I decided just after I turned 30 to rebuild myself as a combat athlete. After 18 months of jiu jitsu and submission wrestling, with the occasional kick boxing and boxing classes thrown in, I am now at competition level for brazilian jitsu and recently took home a silver and bronze medal in my division at Joslins Canadian Open.
I have really taken jiu jitsu as being a way to live my life. I am on a long road to get my black belt. It's almost like I have started high school again except this time I will leave with more than a c average. The plan is next year to begin training in more disciplines and MMA and to compete in more grappling tournaments with my team mates at Toronto BJJ
And so the story really begins...
However you found this site - thanks for stopping by !
