There are 2 videos I would like to show you: The 1st is a video showing highlights from The Valenta Brothers' Kids Tournament. The kids look like they are having tonnes of fun while learning the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I wish I had these classes at their age! Valente Brothers Gracie Jiu-JitsuYouth Fellowship Challenge highlights
The second video came to me via ScottOnTheNet member Anthony Baroudi. Titled "From Autistic to Bullyproof" this clip is from GracieAcademy's Youtube Channel. I have a friend who recently had their child diagnosed with Autism. It is a hard time for him as his family are coming to terms with this. Autism results in a child not wishing to have much contact or to engage with other people. And as we know - Jiu Jitsu is for everybody - even for those with special needs. The gentle art might prove to be a vital way for the child to not only protect themselves but offer a new way for him to connect and prepare for the future. I think the father, Mike Fiores, sums up the positive benefits much better than I so please watch for yourself to see how his families life has been changed by the GracieBullyProof series and how it has allowed his son to 'come back to him' From Autistic to Bullyproof
...truly inspirational.

As an ambassador of the art of Jiu Jitsu I am always telling friends, with kids, about the benefits of Jiu Jitsu. Sure Tae Kwondo is a good 'entry' level martial art (or if the child would like to be a dancer - TKD would be a great choice instead). It's fun for kids...bright coloured kimono's and belts PLUS music to fight to...but for efficient self defense - Jiu Jitsu is the martial art that will help a child most.
Not only will the kid learn about ground fighting and confidence to defend themselves but we all know the positive benefits from everything else studying brings you. So to be exposed to that at an early age will work in the favour of the practitioner and everyone around them.
