The 2010 Toronto BJJ annual has come and gone for another year. The tournament featured almost 200 fighters. The group photo took about 30 minutes to organise. The promotions swept through and many of my team mates are now wearing new colours around their waists.

Tonight was the first night I have been able to see the kids class at Toronto BJJ. A glimpse of what we will see at The Annual. The program looks like it has really taken off and from what I saw if I had a kid - for sure - this is where they would be.

The parents, including some students, were all looking through the class as Professor Britto, Eduardo and Mikey controlled about 20 youngsters with a fun type discipline.

Well we are fast approaching the end of the year...My gi's are all getting worn out now and ripped - my belt has started fraying - a sign of a decent amount of training over the last while. Still at the academy 5-6 times a week trying to keep working hard and learning with all my team mates. How are you doing?

I've been mulling around some ideas for the new year for the website...

A good friend of my Jiu Jitsu Professor is Will Ribeiro - the WEC MMA fighter that almost lost his life in a motorcycle accident in 2008. The 2 are friends from Brazil and live in the same neighbourhood.

Will has been reaching out for help recently on Facebook as his need for assistance during his recovery is great. He has been left with half his body paralyzed and his managers from Black House, Jorge Guimarães and Ed Soares, have not helped. So recently Professor Britto answered the call and brought the story to the attention of Toronto BJJ where we held a recent fundraiser. The success of the event was evident and we helped raise + $2000 to help in the recovery of the fallen fighter. But more still needs to be done. It never stops really. That's where we can help.
