The Gracies audition for Oprah

The On line Jiu Jitsu community is rallying behind Rener Gracie at the minute
I never would have thought I would be asking you to
Usually My Gracie Insider makes me want to spend my cash on yet another Gracie T Shirt design but this week's I found myself following their link to Orpah's site and I have been there every day this week - sharing with as many people as I can. But Why?
Oprah is leaving ABC later this year and just announced a contest where you can win your own reality TV Show for her 'Oprah Network TV Channel'
Now I was going to submit my ideas for 'Sewing with Scott' or 'How to Spoon the elderly'
But I have decided to put those on the back burner for a while so instead I have been casting my Vote for Rener Gracie who is putting forward his own concept for 'BullyProof'
WATCH RENER'S AUDITION & Vote
As it says:
Bullyproof Featuring the Gracie Brothers
The concept for the show is simple. Every day, hundreds of thousands of kids are terrified to go to school out of fear of bullies. These kids are depressed, have no self-confidence, and unfortunately, many of them are borderline suicidal. On our TV show, the Gracie Brothers will sweep the nation's schools to find the children who are most victimized by bullies. These children will be brought to the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy where, over the period of several weeks, they will be "bullyproofed" from the inside out. By empowering the children - physically, mentally, and emotionally - we will give them the confidence to take a stand against bullies so they can take control of their lives. Without confidence, a child has no chance at success, and on this show we are going to make sure that every child gets a fair chance. We have successfully "bullyproofed" thousands of kids over the years and having this show on the air would enable us to share our methods with millions of people.
The online Jiu Jitsu community is aswering the call to get on line and vote and Rener is currently in the lead. The cool thing is you're allowed to vote multiple times. The deadline is July 3, 2010, and only the top 5 candidates will go on to the next level.
The fightworks Podcast will also be featuring Rener this weekend to get more information. If The Gracies were to get a show on the Oprah Network there's no telling how many kids they could help.
To keep up to date with this story - You can follow The Gracie brothers, Rener and Ryron on Twitter @GracieBrothers and facebook @http://www.facebook.com/GracieAcademy

Apologizing during rolling
On the Mat - Etiquette
Monday, 17 May 2010 23:54

I've chosen to roll with mostly white belts recently so that I can take my time and roll with a little less intent allowing me to protect my shoulder injury as much as I can.

I've noticed a few times with some people I am rolling with - they apologize for either lack of technique or strength or endurance...or something. I probably do this too when rolling with more advanced guys at times.

Note: It turns out I had an AC Sprain and not RCT so the below article likely has little relevance...(Scott - July 2010)

After only managing 5 pushups or so today and after reading this site (which hit the nail on the head)...I went to the Clinic

It's Rotator Cuff Tendonitis...no big deal really

Articles - Philosophy
Friday, 07 May 2010 12:32

I just discovered these thanks to @RenzoGracieBJJ's Twitter updates (they have been posting these randomly) so I thought I would collect them together to share.

1. Be so strong that nothing can disturb the peace of your mind.

2. Talk to all people about happiness, health, and prosperity.

3. Give to all your friends the feeling of being valued.

'Shoulder of Justice' VS 'Should have just iced'
On the Mat - Injury Log
Friday, 07 May 2010 15:36

Shoulder of Justice VS Should have just iced I'm writing this post on the sidelines...

Just before Copa Ontario I noticed my shoulders were getting increasingly sore.

Then after the tournament, at the Royler Gracie seminar, my left shoulder started acting up.

I just put it down to bruising.
