DidaRepresentsAs you might know, Toronto BJJ's Muay Thai program is ran by Mauricio Veio and his brother, K1 & MMA veteran - Andre Dida (pictured) (6-4-1). The style of Mauy Thai which is taught is called 'Evolucao Thai' and is heavily geared towards MMA fighting. You can learn more on their website.

The brothers, former Chute Box fighters, are still heavily involved with another former Chute Boxe fighter - Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua (UDL - Universidade de Luta). Dida has been Shogun's Striking coach for the last 2 Machida Fights.

On the Mat - Training Diary
Thursday, 29 April 2010 13:11

Last night I felt I was rolling on a different level. I still am wondering whether it was:

a) - the full moon
b) - my new 'under armour' (made to make you grapple like GSP...right?)
c) - Globetrotter Jiu Jitsu with Andre Galvao

..that caused this.

2 inspirational BJJ Kids videosAs an ambassador of the art of Jiu Jitsu I am always telling friends, with kids, about the benefits of Jiu Jitsu. Sure Tae Kwondo is a good 'entry' level martial art (or if the child would like to be a dancer - TKD would be a great choice instead). It's fun for kids...bright coloured kimono's and belts PLUS music to fight to...but for efficient self defense - Jiu Jitsu is the martial art that will help a child most.
