Leo and me - teaching us the fun in the not so gentle art of smashing.. on Twitpic

Had some great training the last few days under 'Leo' - our Guest Black Belt. Fun times learning to use 'Smashing' in Guard Passes and during brutal chokes. That pretty much sums up this week.

Leo (I believe his last name is Santos but it's not 'the' Leo Santos) Has been teaching us how to 'smash'. His game is mauling people. He is a big guy who could really hurt you and with his confidence in rolling - he genuinely enjoys making opponents uncomfortable. A guy with a big heart - that you would not want to piss off.

'Pick some guy you don't like' - is what he was instructing as we were doing specific training on a baseball bat choke. Even the guys he uses to demonstrate the move are expressing alot of discomfort in their faces while he is setting up his move.

It's another intriguing approach to rolling. A 'not so gentle' art..

I would like to add that it was all done in good sport and everyone always had a good laugh with Leo about not being nice...

We are spending alot of time sparring too. Leo was rolling with us and sharing his time with all the students. There was no smashing..just light technical rolling

And next week. The return of Britto.
