My Jiu Jitsu teacher - The Royler Gracie / Saulo Ribeiro / Vini Aieta Triple Threat Black Belt - Jorge Britto, is a wise man and he teaches us not only the highest level Jiu Jitsu in Canada but to be of strong mind and body to be ready to fight. We are his soldiers and we go to battle. That's what competition is my friends. It's a battle.

Attitude - Determination - Discipline - Dedication are 4 things he expects from us.

I've written before about not doing well in tournaments and feeling like I am not quite there yet. I have not yet hit the top of the podium and I've questioned whether I should even compete sometimes. I feel I am missing a spark. The 'Eye of the Tiger'.

One promise I made to myself before I got into Jiu Jitsu was that I would not be a c student as I was when I played out my High school years. But that's honestly what I feel I am. I'm usually feeling behind the curve. Guys never fight the best me. They fight a watered down version of me. My minds eye sees myself as the fighter I have yet to become.

I think it's important to say here that I truly believe there is no stronger driving force than yourself. You are the one that can make things happen. If you want change you can have it. I've had to rely on this all my life and always will but I recognize that when it comes to competing I miss 'the Ignition key'

But I may have found a new supplement to my training. And it comes in the form of Dustin Denes and his motivational videos. The Black Belt is a product of Club Carlson Gracie, Ricardo De La Riva, Marcus Silveira and the Nogeiras (with deep roots in BTT and ATT) and multiple medals and accolades in both Jiu Jitsu and MMA including beating Marcelo Garcia. He is legit and 'battle tested' (bio). And I want you to hear what he is talking about. SUPER FIRE POWER!

Thanks to my man Jonny Stephan from Martial Arts Driven Excercise (M.A.D.E) for introducing me...

DUSTIN DENES - JIU JITSU CHOP

For whatever reason I feel like I have connected to a source. A driving force. I like his intensity as it matches mine. I'm listening and taking it all in and now - NOW - I'm out getting it. Working harder - gonna keep working hard and this year I'm going for that gold medal. Jiu Jitsu lifestyle.

Meet Dustin on Facebook

And now I know I'm gonna get it. CHOP.
