armbar_face

I was wondering what I could write about as I haven't made an entry for a while so I thought I would share with you what happened today..

I was rolling earlier and I spun to get out a armbar transition and I got a knee in my nose. Immediately it exploded...no wonder why..my nostril is actually split open.

IBJJF

The Montreal Open hosted by the IBJJF took place on Sept 4th and when the dust settled Toronto BJJ placed 1st in the team standings. We had a really successful tournament, led by Professor Britto (who also competed), with lots of my team mates demonstrating their skills on the international stage. I managed to grab gold in my division (Master Blue Lightweight) and enjoyed being part of the historic event which saw large teams from Renzo Gracie, Gracie Barra and Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu competing.

Saturday 20th August was a special day at Toronto BJJ as we welcomed another Professor of Jorge Britto to the academy to award Eduardo Dib (Dudu) his Black Belt. Professor Vini Aieta, the last of Jorges 3 Peers to visit*, led a special class with about 110 students in attendance to see the 1st Black Belt being awarded at Toronto BJJ's Bloor street location. There were also some promotions for some students as we celebrated another day of being able to learn Jiu Jitsu together.

copa-t

Copa Ontario 2011 just took place and proved to be another great opportunity to learn more about my competition game.

The Toronto Jiu Jitsu tournament, organised by Professor Britto and his band of volunteers, went off in the city centre and gave many players from Ontario and Quebec a great chance to get out on the mats to go after some gold medals.
