Goodbye Rio Masters, Hello Worlds!
On the Mat - Training Diary

Like me - you may not have sponsors to help you.

I had hoped this would be the year for me to get to Brazil but in reality - I don't have the cash to go. It's expensive living on your own in Toronto and I can't really manage $3000 for 10 days in Brazil which would include competing at the Rio Masters and enjoying a BJJ camp in Rio.

So I have accepted the fact that this year will not be the year I go to Brazil. I still have a trip home to Ireland to prepare for at Christmas. I know it was up to me to save the money to make it happen. Finances and I have a strained relationship. So it's a bit of a fail. But it will happen when it is meant to..

That being said I am not going to go without this summer. I have decided that this will be the year I go to California and compete at the Mundials instead. I might even stay for a few extra days to train at the University of Jiu Jitsu.

It's a huge event in itself with a big lead up with training camps and academies from across the associations coming together to do final preparations. I have helped my team mates prepare and compete at Worlds for the last few years and I am excited to join them this year.

More details soon - I just made the decision last night. Seems weird to say - 'I'm training for Mundials' - but hey, I AM!

Can't wait to see and experience the return of Tererê!
