Tonight was the first night I have been able to see the kids class at Toronto BJJ. A glimpse of what we will see at The Annual. The program looks like it has really taken off and from what I saw if I had a kid - for sure - this is where they would be.

The parents, including some students, were all looking through the class as Professor Britto, Eduardo and Mikey controlled about 20 youngsters with a fun type discipline.

When I arrived they were doing a sort of (sumo) wrestling game which we had happened to play the previous night with the ring made up of 6-8 belts tied together with the goal being get your opponent out by pummeling etc. They were having a great time and then after water break Professor Britto called 'Fighters Position' and they all go on their knees and slap them in response. It's utterly cute. I just couldn't help smile this huge grin when the final rolling started and it was the instructors vs a kid. Just so careful but allowing the children to climb all over them (without submissions)

Seeing Jorge trying to put his hooks in on a 6 year old is hilarious. And Mikey really sells the throws...it's like he has just been swept by a high level player. And you could really see the joy of Jiu Jitsu inside the class.

And then Donald arrived with a bucket full of juice boxes for them for the end of class. Nice touch!

One of the fathers was very complementary of the training as I was asking him if his daughter was enjoying it. Really looking forward to their demonstration at the end of year party.

It put me in a very good mood for Eduardo's 6pm class (which is open to all belts). The class itself was alot of fun too and we were having some fun at Eduardo's expense which he was adding too. Sometimes things get lost in translation with Brazilians but we end up with great expressions like 'Dinosaur Control'.  Plus we learned choke detail from the mount (including the escape) and anytime you learn about chokes is a good day. Coincidentally I mentioned yesterday about breaking down a choke for video and Eduardo in class today took alot of time explaining the nuances in cross-chokes. You can never repeat the basics enough as again tonight I learned some stuff I haven't been doing.

So a good night. Only an hour tonight but a good one.
