MMA Day or Mini MMA Expo

Am I the only person who senses an alternative objective for MMA Day?

Lets look at the facts

- a demonstration to raise awareness about the benefits of MMA in Ontario on the lawn of Parliament...
...on the Saturday of a long weekend - when there is noone in the city and noone in Parliament

- The Organisers are the same as the MMA Expo
...which happens to be in about 3 weeks

- There are 12 booths announced
...booths at a demonstration? Sure sounds like a Mini Expo...

So Prove me wrong. If I go down there and it is not flyer central for the MMA Expo - I will hold my hands up. I simply do not think it will be the case.

When I see the flyer for MMA Day it starts to stink of Marketing. Especially when 11 of the 17 pages are advertising.

It even says what it is - 'Meet and mingle with fighters, fans, sponsors & media'

MMA Day = Mini MMA Expo

I'm more interested in what parliamentary Lobbyists can do. The behind the scenes wheeling and dealing that a lobbyist does is really how things get done in Parliament.

And it just so happens Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta will be in town on Tuesday for a press conference. The rumour wagon is the Province is going to allow 1 trial MMA event at the Rogers Centre by the end of this year. All rumour.

And I am pretty sure Tuesday's announcement will not be impacted in any way shape or form by a few hundred fanboys walking around MMA Booths at Queens Park to see (and hear from) a few Canadian MMA fighters..
