Northern Ireland is not known for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but with the help of some local Academies and a BJJ Revolution affiliate in Belfast, the Province is set to have it's 1st BJJ Open on January 10th.

Valley Leisure Centre, Jan 10th 2010
- Weigh-ins 10:30AM
- Normal BJJ rules/weights apply
- There is also an open weight no-gi event that will be run at the same time.

I am from N.I and have been living in Canada for over 10 years. Last winter I went home and dropped by Gracie Barra. You can see some pictures here. It's just great to see Jiu Jitsu growing back home. Boxing has always been big but with the growth of MMA and BJJ I am very happy to see events like this beginning to happen. Maybe next year I can compete!

I will do my best to follow up and get some pictures and maybe speak to the organisers...
