When the word 'promotions' gets thrown around I always flip out a little. It's coming to the end of the year and our annual party / in house / promotions / group photo is taking place on Dec 11th.

I can't help but think about my next belt. Unfortunately I have a personality that would let this consume me now for the next 4 weeks. I've actually spent the last 3 days thinking about it alot. But after all that thinking and realizing that you simply need to 'train without expectations' I know there is nothing I can do except 'Shut up and train'.

There is no official test, no grading or demonstration to get your next belt. Our Professors are watching us roll everyday and they know whether or not you have reached the 'level' of the next rank.

So I'll keep training and leave that part up to my teacher.

What I can do is make a run up the last Jiu Jitsu hill of 2010 to see what is at the top. If there is no belt then you can rest assured that I am going to run up every hill I can find in 2011 until I find it!

Let's not worry about it!
