I don't know Tererê personally but my teacher does.

I have never seen him fight except for the countless videos on You Tube.

What I do know is that this time a year ago Fernando Tererê was rolling with the grim reaper himself after hitting a well documented troubled period in his life that resulted in the World Champion losing pretty much everything he had. And he ultimately almost paid with his life.

An innovator and Jiu Jitsu prodigy he is. There can be no doubt. But can Tererê return to his former Glory? Will he be able to recapture the essence of his greatest years so that he may again be crowned King?

Time is a great teller.

Since Professor Britto rallied the Team at Toronto BJJ to offer financial support for his friend I have been following his plight. With the kind help of the Jiu Jitsu community Tererê was able to complete his time in hospital where he gained his sobriety and focus. And it looks like his will to win.

Since leaving his treatment facility he has been in England (where people like to train BJJ in socks it appears) training with Alliance. Probably best to be in a brand new environment. There have been some videos popping up on social media showing his training with a small team of people at London Fight Factory as he begins the journey back.

But this most recent video below, more a promo video made by Tatami and WolfCub Productions, we see a Tererê preparing to step back onto the tournament stage at this year's Mundials. It's inspirational in that we get a glimpse into the soul of Tereré. You just need to look in his eyes and listen to his voice for this.

Much will be anticipated at the 2011 World's. And in that there will be a sound. Can you hear it already?

WHOOP TERERE!!

Welcome back, the prodigal son.
