Saulo's last class
On the Mat - Training Diary

Well family - It has been quite an experience going to class over the last 2 weeks.
I have been presented an amazing opportunity to learn from one of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu's most decorated fighters and what has struck the biggest chord of Saulo's visit this time has not only been his complete revolution of practices within Toronto BJJ, but his amazing ability to articulate 'leverage' - the key to jiu jitsu. I've always known, understanding leverage is the key to understanding alot more about jiu jitsu. I just never knew what it really was before. Now I do. And I am hunting it when I am rolling much more than before.

A great person to explain why 'things making sense' from start to finish...with discipline & intensity. And sometimes you are learning the technique and you just think to yourself...'yes this makes sense'. Simple.

And maybe that's what is important...things making sense...like leverage - and why the re -structuring of the class has taken place. It's created a new climate to train in.

The last 2 weeks have actually involved more talking, sermonizing and instruction than actual hard training. I know the No-Gi guys love that ;)...However it's been a dress rehearsal every night of 'Saulo's Perfect Jiu Jitsu Class' and his perfect class is much more organised than most people are used to.

Which leads us to Saulo's last class this  of this visit - Thursday (14th Jan) - a showcase of his re-tooling over the last 2 weeks and his telling of the story of Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu - of which we are the 5th Generation (Helio, Royler, Saulo, Jorge, Toronto BJJ)

This is an important time in my training. I can feel it.

And I'm just going with the flow and it's opening up. It's making sense.

Let's talk on facebook and thanks again for dropping by and positive feedback!
