I'm a blue belt on the mat and a white belt in blogging. If you have visited the site within the last 2 weeks you will probably have noticed 2 things. No updates..then a 'On Hiatus' Notice. Oh blogging...who knew it would be so 'stressful'...Let me explain Apart from promoting things in and around Toronto BJJ, one of the main things I want to do is capture my 'frame of mind' in this journal so that I can look back and relate to it and hopefully I and others can learn from it. The problem with that is you can easily write things that you should not or you can easily be misread also - like my Cobrinha review which pissed off some people and if I write about things I do in my lifestyle I leave myself open for judgment and for my Black Belt to question me about it. Which I do not want. And then there are nights I get mad because of something that happens during class. Like I did earlier this week. That is when I know I cannot write. Probably best not too anyways. That is when I will say regrettable things. Or things that will be utterly lacking clear insight. You need to chill out and let the vision clear before writing on these events. It's amazing how much trouble a piece of tape could cause.. So then I am left with thinking - what will the blog be? I certainly do not want it to be a 'hey everybody - look at me' blog because I don't think that is interesting or fits who I am. Because I am an all or nothing type of guy this was becoming a weight on me. So in fitting with my 'Shut up and Train' motto I decided to put the journal on a Hiatus. Maybe this personal journey should not be shared. Then a few days passed. I will admit to having things I actually wanted to write about and a few teammates have chatted to me and all of them said the same thing. 'Thanks for doing it while you did' Which struck me. Maybe I am being a bit selfish. If people genuinely enjoy what I am doing and want me to keep doing it - that gives me reason. Plus There are still many positive things I can do with this. And I just need to learn more about adapting my style to make sure my message is positive and that people can still relate too. Sure sometimes people will not agree with me or have a different view point but that's life. There are 100 ways to write a story. I have to select the correct one. There are lots of exciting things on the horizon - from the tournaments, to the training to my team mates and coaches fighting professionally and more. Toronto BJJ has many stories yet to tell. It's like I am a young Kid Peligro ;)
I hope you stick around. Scott |
